Information Technology

Hi, I’m Ryan, the IS Manager for Eakes. I have been interested in the Information Technology industry for many years. I began my career doing in-home computer repair, and then moved on to banking software for servers and mainframes. Just before I came to Eakes, I was working as a Network Technician. These prior experiences led me to servicing and advancing Eakes in all ways of technology.

Being at the helm of so many cool pieces of technology makes work very enjoyable and sometimes feels like it’s my birthday multiple times a year. I get a new ‘toy’ (server, laptop, phone, etc.) almost weekly!

I love being able to help others inside and outside our business use various pieces of technology to make their job easier and more enjoyable. It is really fun to see people light up with joy when they realize that technology changes can be good for them.

One of the best parts of being on the Eakes team is that I get to make a difference in how our company operates. Not only is technology vital for our day-to-day tasks, but it can really drive how we do things as whole in the future. If there was no technology, we would not be able to sell our products online, process thousands of orders daily, or even communicate to our employees and customers throughout the Midwest.

When we start to talk about strategy on any given topic, Eakes involves our IT group almost always. This just goes to show how important technology can be for any organization. I embrace the fact that our department is heavily relied on to make things go for Eakes. Not only is it a challenge, but it’s something to truly hang your hat on.

The Information Technology industry has been very good to me and my family. It offers a breath of fresh air daily in my work schedule as no two days are ever the same. Also, with technology being what it is, it allows me to work remotely, or even from home in the evening. This allows me the flexibility to spend more time with my family. Life is good when you can make work and home balance, and I truly believe the Information Technology industry and working for Eakes can make that happen.
